Service Schedule

Last updated: 30 July 2026.

Rolegend is a service operated by Nightshift Software. Buying it puts you under Nightshift Software's Terms of Service, and how your personal data is handled is described in its Privacy Policy. This page is the schedule for Rolegend specifically: it covers what this service does, what it does with what you write, and where the controls are. It is part of your contract, and where it disagrees with the general terms about Rolegend, this page wins.

The other documents that apply: refunds and cancellation, acceptable use, and this service's content policy, sub-processor list, cookie notice and SRD attribution.

What this is

Rolegend is a hosted, AI-powered tabletop role-playing platform. We'll provide best-effort uptime; expect outages while we're in beta.

Age requirement

You must be 18 or over to use this service. Requesting a sign-in link requires you to confirm it, and we ask again every time you sign in.

We take that confirmation at face value - we don't verify anyone's age or ask for identity documents. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll close it and delete its data. Tell us at support@rolegend.com if you believe that applies to an account. We record that you confirmed it when your account is created, and we don't collect dates of birth.

What Rolegend holds

The company's privacy notice lists the categories of personal data we hold. This is what falls into each of them here:

How AI uses your content

Player actions, campaign state, and character sheets are sent to the configured model provider to generate GM responses. That is Anthropic or OpenAI, whichever this deployment is set to, and the other of the two as a failover when a key for it is configured; a self-hosted, OpenAI-compatible endpoint can be configured in place of both, in which case whoever runs that endpoint receives the same prompts. Separately, the embeddings behind lore retrieval always go to OpenAI, whichever provider writes the narration. The sub-processor page lists each one and what it receives. We don't use your content to train models. Provider data-retention policies apply to whatever they receive - see Anthropic's and OpenAI's terms for details.

Who else processes your data

Running Rolegend means a handful of companies process data on our behalf: hosting, the database, the model providers, payments and email. Each one, what it receives and where, is listed on the sub-processor page, which carries the date it was last checked.

Public worlds

Public sharing is switched off. While it is off you cannot publish a world, a campaign or homebrew, and you cannot clone anyone else's: those routes sit behind a platform flag that is off by default and fails closed, and every read path that resolves another account's content requires that content to be first-party (published by us). If the flag is ever turned on, marking a world "public" would make its description and canonical entities readable to other signed-in users, and the campaigns you build on it would still stay private.

One thing that is not behind a sign-in check either way: an image you generate for a world, campaign or character is stored in a public-read file bucket. Its address contains random identifiers, so it is not something another user can find or guess, but anyone you give the link to can open it without an account.

What you own

You own the worlds, campaigns, characters, and play transcripts you create. We claim no rights to them. Public worlds you mark as such grant other signed-in users a read-only / clone-only license.

You can download a full transcript of any of your runs at any time, and a copy of your whole account from Settings, on every plan including the free one. Data portability isn't a paid feature.

What not to do here

The company's acceptable use policy applies to every service. On top of it, and specific to this one:

Plans

What each plan includes is on the pricing page. How renewal, cancellation and refunds work is the same across every Nightshift Software service and is set out in the refund and cancellation policy.

Getting a copy of your data

Settings Your data Export my data downloads a copy of your account as a single JSON file: profile, worlds, campaigns, homebrew, images, credit history, and every run both as a readable transcript and as the underlying rows, down to world state, encounters and each character sheet's build choices. It's free on every plan. It is a copy of your account, not of our database, so a few things are held back and the file itself lists them: stored API credentials, which we don't decrypt; our internal event log, whose entries can carry a staff member's email, so ask us and we'll send yours; the search-index vectors, which are a machine copy of text the file already contains; the prompt, token and cost internals behind each GM reply; and SRD or first-party content your account can read but didn't write.

Deleting your data

Delete individual campaigns / characters from their pages. To remove everything, use Settings Danger zone Delete my account: it cancels any active subscription and permanently deletes your account and all associated data. If you have any trouble, email support@rolegend.com.

Your rights

The rights themselves are described in Nightshift Software's privacy notice. What follows is how you exercise each one in Rolegend. Where there is a button for one, it is named here; where there is not, the route is email, and we say so rather than describing a self-serve mechanism that does not exist.
